Starbucks Debuts New Black Cat Frappuccino

Starbucks Debuts New Black Cat Frappuccino

Healthy Fact of the Day

Blended, dessert-inspired drinks like frappuccinos tend to run higher in added sugar and calories than a standard coffee order, especially once whipped cream and toppings are factored in. To lighten things up, consider ordering a smaller size, asking for the whipped cream on the side, or requesting fewer pumps of syrup while still getting the seasonal flavor.

Pumpkin spice may still be Starbucks' most iconic fall drink, but this year the chain is leaning into something spookier for Halloween season.

The coffee giant has announced a new Black Cat Frappuccino, and fans are already counting down the days until it hits menus.

What's in the Cup

The Black Cat Frappuccino is designed to taste like a sip of rich chocolate cake, finished with whipped cream and topped with chocolate cat ears to match its Halloween-ready theme. It's a departure from the fruit and spice flavors that typically dominate fall coffee menus, leaning instead into a dessert-inspired chocolate profile.

A Cookie to Match

Alongside the drink, Starbucks is also introducing a new Venti Black Night Cookie, made with black cocoa powder for a deep, earthy chocolate flavor, along with caramel fudge pieces and caramelized white chocolate chips to balance out the richness.

Why Fans Are Excited

The announcement has already generated significant buzz online, with fans reacting enthusiastically to the cat-themed concept. Some have said they plan to order the drink daily once it becomes available, a level of anticipation that speaks to how much Starbucks' seasonal specialty drinks tend to resonate with regulars.

Merch Drops First

Fans eager for black cat content don't have to wait for the drink itself. Starbucks is releasing a line of black cat-themed merchandise on September 15, including a steel tumbler, a pumpkin-shaped mug with a dangling black cat charm, a Bearista bag charm dressed in a black cat costume, and a cauldron-shaped mug.

Where and When to Get It

The Black Cat Frappuccino and Venti Black Night Cookie will be available at select Starbucks locations in the U.S. starting October 22, while the merchandise line launches earlier, on September 15.

The Takeaway

Whether you're in it for the chocolate-forward flavor or just want the cat-themed merch to go with it, Starbucks' Halloween lineup gives fans a reason to look forward to the weeks ahead of the drink's actual launch.
