How to Build a Week of Meals With the Whole Foods 365 Line

How to Build a Week of Meals With the Whole Foods 365 Line

Healthy Fact of the Day

The 365 line adheres to Whole Foods’ strict quality standards — no artificial preservatives, colors, flavors, sweeteners, or hydrogenated fats across the board. That makes it one of the easier store brands to shop without reading every label carefully. Their organic line extends those standards further and is priced significantly below comparable name-brand organic products. If eating clean is a priority but the Whole Foods price tag usually gives you pause, the 365 line is the workaround worth knowing about.

Why the 365 Line Changes the Whole Foods Calculus

Whole Foods earned its “Whole Paycheck” nickname honestly — name-brand shopping there adds up fast. But the 365 store brand operates on a different math entirely. It covers the same quality standards as everything else in the store — no artificial preservatives, colors, or hydrogenated fats — at prices that regularly undercut conventional grocery store name brands. For pantry staples especially, the 365 line is one of the best values in any grocery store. Here’s how to build a week of dinners around it.

How to Shop It

The 365 line is integrated throughout the store rather than grouped in one section, so it helps to know the categories where it performs best before you go. Pantry staples — canned goods, pasta, grains, olive oil, broth — are the strongest. Fresh proteins and dairy are reliable and well-priced relative to the store’s other offerings. Frozen vegetables are consistently good and competitively priced. Build your week around those categories and you’ll leave spending a lot less than a full Whole Foods haul typically runs.

Five Dinners From One 365 Run

1. White Bean and Kale Soup (Night 1) This is a pantry dinner built almost entirely from 365 canned and shelf-stable goods. Sauté garlic and diced onion in 365 olive oil. Add two cans of 365 cannellini beans, one can of 365 diced tomatoes, and three cups of 365 vegetable broth. Simmer for 15 minutes, then stir in a generous handful of chopped kale and cook for five more minutes. Season with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Serve with crusty bread. Total cost per serving: around $2.

2. 365 Ground Beef Bolognese (Night 2) Brown 365 ground beef with diced onion, carrot, and celery until the vegetables are soft. Add a can of 365 crushed tomatoes, a splash of whole milk, salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg. Simmer on low for 20–25 minutes. Toss with 365 pasta and finish with parmesan. The milk and nutmeg are the classic Bolognese moves that take it from basic meat sauce to something worth making on a weeknight.

3. Roasted Salmon with Farro and Vegetables (Night 3) 365 fresh salmon fillets are one of the better value proteins in the store. Season with olive oil, lemon, salt, and pepper and roast at 400°F for 12–15 minutes. Serve alongside 365 farro cooked in vegetable broth with whatever vegetables are in the 365 fresh section — asparagus, zucchini, and cherry tomatoes all roast well alongside the salmon. One sheet pan, one pot, done.

4. Chicken Tikka Masala (Night 4) 365 boneless chicken thighs work perfectly here. Cut into chunks and cook in a skillet with garlic, ginger, and 365 coconut milk, a can of 365 crushed tomatoes, garam masala, cumin, turmeric, and a pinch of cayenne. Simmer for 20 minutes until the sauce thickens and the chicken is cooked through. Serve over 365 basmati rice. This is the weeknight curry that tastes like it took significantly more effort than it did.

5. Black Bean Tacos with Mango Salsa (Night 5) Drain and warm two cans of 365 black beans with cumin, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt. Dice fresh mango, red onion, jalapeño, and cilantro for a quick salsa. Load into 365 corn tortillas with shredded cabbage, the bean mixture, and mango salsa. Finish with a squeeze of lime. This is the no-cook protein night that somehow feels like the most exciting dinner of the week.

Your 365 Shopping List

  • 365 ground beef
  • 365 boneless chicken thighs
  • 365 fresh salmon fillets
  • 365 canned cannellini beans + black beans
  • 365 canned crushed tomatoes + diced tomatoes
  • 365 vegetable broth + chicken broth
  • 365 coconut milk
  • 365 pasta + farro + basmati rice
  • 365 olive oil
  • 365 corn tortillas
  • 365 frozen or fresh vegetables of choice
  • Kale + garlic + onion + carrot + celery
  • Fresh mango + jalapeño + cilantro + lime
  • Parmesan
  • Garam masala + cumin + turmeric + cayenne + nutmeg + Italian seasoning
  • Whole milk + lemon

The Bottom Line

The 365 line won’t make Whole Foods a budget grocery store — but it makes a week of clean, quality meals there a lot more achievable than the store’s reputation suggests. Shop the store brand, stick to the pantry staples, and the math starts working in your favor.
