Check Your Pantry: Lundberg Family Farms Is Recalling Thousands of Bags of Organic Jasmine Rice

Check Your Pantry: Lundberg Family Farms Is Recalling Thousands of Bags of Organic Jasmine Rice

Healthy Fact of the Day

Recalls like this one are a good reminder to periodically check the pantry items you buy in bulk or store long-term. Dry goods like rice, pasta, and grains can sit in the pantry for months, making it easy to miss a recall notice before the product is used. Taking a quick photo of the lot codes on pantry staples when you bring them home — or simply checking the FDA recall database occasionally — can help you stay ahead of potential food safety issues before they reach your dinner table.

A popular organic rice brand has issued a voluntary recall — and the affected bags have already made their way into pantries across the country.

Lundberg Family Farms announced a voluntary Class II recall of approximately 4,500 cases of its Organic Jasmine White Rice in 2-lb bags due to the possible presence of foreign material. The recall covers a single production run and has been reported to the FDA. No illnesses have been reported as of the recall announcement, but consumers are advised not to eat the affected rice.

What’s the Risk?

Lundberg has not specified what type of foreign material may be present in the recalled bags. Common sources of foreign material in food production include fragments of wood, metal, or plastic — all of which can cause injury if consumed.

As a Class II recall, the FDA has determined that the product “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.” While this is a lower classification than a Class I recall, it is not a situation to ignore — particularly for households with young children who may not be able to identify something foreign in their food.

How to Identify the Recalled Bags

Only specific bags from a single production run are included in this recall. Check your 2-lb bag of Lundberg Family Farms Organic Jasmine White Rice for all of the following:

  • UPC Code: 073416-040281
  • Lot Code 260201 with a Best By date of 02/01/2027
  • Lot Code 260202 with a Best By date of 02/02/2027

Both lot codes and their corresponding best-by dates are printed on the bag. If your bag matches either lot code listed above, it is part of the recall.

Where Was It Sold?

The recalled rice was distributed to retailers nationwide, including:

  • Wegmans
  • Walmart
  • Target
  • Whole Foods
  • Hy-Vee
  • Natural Grocers

The recall is not limited to one retailer. If you purchased a 2-lb bag of Lundberg Organic Jasmine White Rice recently, check the lot code regardless of which store you bought it from.

About Lundberg Family Farms

Lundberg Family Farms is a California-based rice brand known for its organic and regenerative farming practices. The brand has been a staple in natural and mainstream grocery stores for decades and is generally well regarded in the organic food space. The company has said this recall is isolated to a single production run and initiated it voluntarily out of an abundance of caution.

What to Do

If your bag matches the UPC and lot codes listed above:

  • Do not eat the rice
  • Return it to the store where you purchased it for a full refund — this applies regardless of which retailer you bought it from
  • For questions specific to Wegmans purchases, you can contact Wegmans customer service at 1-855-934-3663, available daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. EST

The Bottom Line

Lundberg Family Farms has voluntarily recalled 4,500 cases of 2-lb Organic Jasmine White Rice bags with lot codes 260201 and 260202 due to possible foreign material contamination. The rice was sold at major retailers nationwide including Walmart, Target, Whole Foods, Wegmans, and Hy-Vee. Check your pantry, confirm the lot code, and return the bag for a full refund if it matches.don’t have to know that.TikTok trend that delivers every single time.
